Design Studio 1 EXP1 3 WORDS

A: Best piece of creative work before coming to the course

This would have to the best piece of creative work before getting into Architectural Studies however it really isn't that great. It was one of my artworks for my Visual Arts HSC major last year. The concept for my collection of works was the celebration of Architecture, I also had a few photographs and models but this was one of my main cut-outs. It depicts a scene in Shibuya, the very famous crossing in Tokyo. I took the photo myself while I had vacation in Japan in December 2011. At first, I simply drew the photograph but it wasn't very interesting so I made it into a cut-out. It's quite simple and doesn't feature a lot of people even though at the time there were hundreds of humans crossing the road. I wanted the audience to focus on how humans have built big cities to live in and that we should celebrate it.

B: An image of a great piece of Architecture

Gyeongbokgung Palace, located north of Gwanghwamun Square is one of the most iconic sights in all of Korea thanks to its long and storied history. Construction on Gyeongbokgung Palace was completed in 1395 at the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty during the reign of King Taejo. Gyeongbokgung, which means “palace greatly blessed by Heaven,” was built in the heart of Seoul surrounded by Mount Bugaksan and Mount Namsan.
In 1394, during the early days of the Joseon Dynasty, the capital of Korea was moved from Kaesong, in modern day North Korea, to Seoul, known then as Hanyang. When the capital was moved, a new palace was required and built.
When construction was completed, Gyeongbokgung Palace became the heart of the capital of Korea along with the head of state of the Joseon Dynasty

C: An original photograph of something beautiful

This photograph was taken while I was in korea  It's a shot of some lily pads and a sprout sticking out in a small pond at the entrance of the villa I was staying at. When I first walked in, I took focus of the man made pond with the lily pads which gave me a relaxing feel. This photograph gives out peaceful vibes of nature which is what I was feeling at the time during my holiday. The soft sunlight touching the lily pads is what I find beautiful as it makes me feel comfortable. The unfocused elephant statues in the background also gives a nice touch as it reminds me of where the photo was taken.
